Debbie: So, I decided to help people. And the Carte Cache was been helping me do that. Foil: No. That doesn't make sense. The only reason people are altruistic are because they expect rewards, or they're afraid of something. That's what everyone in philosophy, psychology and religion all say. Debbie: It's time you consider that all those people may be wrong. You're right. Nothing prevents me from being a monster. I could skin you all alive and never feel anything more than self-satisfied pleasure. And I certainly have no fear of being caught, let alone punished. But I choose to be the person I am. In the end, everyone makes that choice. And that choice is something inherent to the person, not something they're driven to by biology or circumstance. ...let me show you something else. Come on in. It's safe. But if you don't trust me, it's all right. I literally can't be offended. |
